Kimberly Danek Pinkson, the founder of the international organization Ecomom Alliance, joined Laura and Todd to discuss balancing work & family in the post feminism era.

It’s been tough to be a Mom lately. From the LIFE magazine cover, to the political debates to just everyday life, Moms have it hard. How does one keep her head about her when dealing with all of this?

Kimberly added some great insights into the woman’s brain and shared some simple steps that will make everything you desire achievable. In the meantime, Todd and Laura had their side conversation, as we like to call it, about what works in their home. Who knows? It might be like that in your house as well?

George Turner and Ben Alexander of My Fellow Traveller stopped by to chat about their music and their unique albums. The band is bringing back the album as an art form, with their Pink Floyd-esque tunes that bleed into one another, making them sound more like movements than separate songs within themselves. There are no “singles” on these records.
We chatted about their most recent work, Misery Becomes Wisdom, with its creative orchestration and cheery title. We also discuss their live, their band name (Traveller with two “ll”s?) and why their third album will be their last.
Listen to a full and yet-to-be-released song on this episode, “Waiting For A Match” from their upcoming Wisdom Becomes Truth. Also hear parts of “A Sorrow I Can Call My Own” from Misery Becomes Wisdom, and “Stay Down” from the unreleased record.

Find out what women really want on today’s show and find out why men keep giving her the wrong gifts on her special day. AskMen.com is leading us all astray!

Also, what love song would you play for the mother of your kids on Sunday? I have one picked out. Do you?

And we say goodbye to someone who really messed all of us up as kids: Maurice Sendak. The author of “Where the Wild Things Are” died at age 83 on May 8th and he leaves a legacy. Was it good for you? If you want to laugh with him, might I suggest his interview with Stephen Colbert, Part 1 & Part 2.

Are you a lover of Science? Do your kids love science? America is falling behind in the world of science and there aren’t enough students coming out with science degrees to stem the tide. So, what are we doing about it? Sue Theissen is. She is the CEO of Mad Science of Portland and Vancouver and turning kids into lovers of Science.

How is she doing this? Todd and Laura got an earful during their conversation. Laura also owned up to why she didn’t excel in the subject and the story will shock you. This simple program can make a difference in your child’s life and show that science is “Mad”.

We have our growths removed with surgery, our fevers lowered with aspirin, and our rashes removed by steroid creams. While this kind of approach can have the blessing of alleviating our suffering, and even be a valuable component of our healing process, it alone does not address why the symptoms were there in the first place.
